Where ICE Releases Go

ICE custody is a federal civil immigration system. A person may leave the Mendocino County Jail and stop appearing in local custody because the person was released to the community, transferred to another criminal-justice agency, moved to CDCR, moved to federal criminal custody, or transferred to immigration custody. That short visibility window makes timing important after a local jail release or suspected transfer.

How to Check ICE Custody

Use ICE only when the person may be in immigration custody or recently released from ICE. If the person was simply released from the Mendocino County Jail on local charges, start with the jail, VINE, court, and NextRequest route. If the record says transfer to ICE or an immigration hold, move quickly because the public locator may have a short post-release visibility window.

1. Confirm the local event first if possible. Search the Mendocino County booking log or request the sheriff release record showing the time and manner of release or agency transferred to.
