Where Probation Releases Go
Mendocino County Probation Adult Division is a post-release supervision agency, not a custody facility. A person released from the Mendocino County Jail may become a probation or supervision case if the court orders formal probation, mandatory supervision, PRCS, work furlough, or related conditions. The release event itself belongs to the jail booking/release record, VINE, and the court minute order. The ongoing community status belongs to the court order and Probation Department.
The research identifies three main post-release supervision paths for Mendocino County. Formal probation and local court-ordered terms are county Probation matters. PRCS and mandatory supervision under California realignment are generally county probation matters for qualifying lower-level state-prison or local-sentence populations. State parole, by contrast, is CDCR Division of Adult Parole Operations after release from CDCR. Do not call a county probation page a jail page, and do not send a local probation user first to BOP or ICE unless the underlying record shows federal or immigration custody.
Adult Probation's public source says the Adult Division enforces court-ordered terms and conditions by monitoring and supervising offenders released on formal probation to reside in the community. It uses evidence-based practices, works with service providers, and monitors drug and domestic-violence programs, fine payments, community-service requirements, and electronic monitoring. These are supervision functions. They can explain a person's status after release, but they are not a public inmate roster.

How to Confirm Probation Status
The correct sequence begins with the court because probation is imposed and modified through court orders. Mendocino Superior Court records can show disposition, sentence, probation terms, mandatory supervision, PRCS references, violation petitions, warrants, revocation hearings, and later resentencing or dismissal orders. The court record outlasts the jail roster and is often the only durable public path after the person is no longer in custody.
- Check the jail release path first if the question is whether the person left custody. Use the booking log, VINE, or NextRequest for the time and manner of release.
- Search the Mendocino Superior Court case route for the sentencing or probation order. Nonparty public access to criminal detail may require courthouse kiosks in Ukiah or Ten Mile/Fort Bragg because of California Rules of Court rule 2.503(c).

- Use California CDCR, BPH, and DAPO instead if the person is on state parole after a CDCR release.
- If no public record resolves the question, request the court document or the jail release record rather than asking for confidential supervision notes.

About Adult Probation
The Adult Division supervises released persons on formal probation and monitors court-ordered terms. It also interacts with AB 109 realignment populations through local supervision structures. The Community Corrections Partnership plan explains that public safety realignment revised felony custody placement for certain non-violent, non-serious, non-sex offenders and created Post Release Community Supervision for lower-level state-prison releases. In practical release research, that means a person who sounds like a state-prison release may still be supervised locally under PRCS rather than by state parole.
Probation status may appear in court sentencing orders, violation calendars, probation revocation proceedings, PRCS paperwork, mandatory-supervision terms, and work-furlough routing. Absconders and warrants are handled through court and law-enforcement processes. The research did not find a Mendocino-specific public probation absconder list or sheriff warrant list for released inmates. If a violation occurs, the trail may appear as a new booking, a warrant, a violation petition, or a revocation hearing.
State parole is separate. CDCR DAPO is divided into Northern and Southern regions and has more than 92 parole units statewide. The Northern Region directory is the starting regional directory for Mendocino-related parole routing, but exact unit assignment should be verified through CDCR/DAPO because parole unit boundaries can be more granular than county lines. BPH handles parole suitability and certain parole-review processes for people under CDCR jurisdiction.
Mendocino Supervision Record Limits
Probation and PRCS information can involve public court orders, confidential case-management notes, treatment records, victim information, warrants, and law-enforcement data. A public court file may show the existence of probation or violations, but it does not make every Probation Department record public. Use public records to verify a custody or court status, then confirm details with the court or Probation when the public record is incomplete.
If the needed fact is the exact custody release from jail, ask the sheriff for the public booking/release fields through NextRequest. If the needed fact is the sentence or probation term, request the court order. If the needed fact is current supervision handling, contact Probation or the supervising agency and expect limits on what can be disclosed to a member of the public.
The Adult Division is not an inmate locator and does not replace the jail booking record. If a Mendocino County released inmate has a later violation, the public record may appear first as a court calendar entry, violation petition, warrant, revocation hearing, or new booking rather than as a probation search result.
